Ghana and the Ashanti's Kingdom
Ghana is a marvellous country of West Africa with a very rich past. Its remarkable tourists sites remember us the undeniable influence of the colonial presence that began during the 14th century.

This trip offers you the opportunity to discover many facets of the history of that country :

  • The one of the colonial era (through castles, slave trade centers),
  • The one of the ASHANTI'S Kingdom (an ethnic group that have resisted to the Portuguese and English invasions),
  • The one of the tribe of GANS, "founders" of Ghana.

The differences in the ghanaian landscapes (wooded savannah in the North, forests in the South) have a real interest for tourism.

DAY 1 : arrival, welcome and transfer to Mercure**** Silmande.

DAY 2 : departure for Ghana, passing trough the Gourounsi's Country. At TIEBELE : discovery of that so particular architecture that offers you buildings very nicely decorated. At PO, customs formalities to go through the border and join TAMALE. There you will have diner and spend the night in the Mariam hotel.

DAY 3 : you will completely approach the Ashantis’ country at KINTEMPO. After seeing the tail of the Lake Volta, you will go through plantations of cocoa stretching as far as KUMASI. That town is known as being "the city of gardens" and also as the Capital of the Ashanti's Kingdom. Diner and night in the Royal Basin Resort.

DAY 4 : you will cross through rainforests to arrive not far from BIBIANI. On the road to DUNKWA, discovery of gold and bauxite mines (under licence).You will spend the night on the coast at BUSUA and have the opportunity to enjoy walking on the beach.

DAY 5 : relaxation on one of the most pleasant beach of Ghana (possibility of bathing), followed with a tour of castles along the coast until CAPE COAST. You will go back to KUMASI but that time by the road of FOSO and OBUASI (discovery of one of the five most important gold mines in the world). Diner and night in Royal Basin Resort.

DAY 6 : sights of the town of KUMASI with its market well known for its trade of the famous cloth of Kent (the source of the Ashanti's wealth). You will leave Kumasi for WA, pass from the forests to the wooded savannah. Diner and night in Upland hotel at Wa.

DAY 7 : back to Burkina Faso passing through LEO. Arrival at OUAGADOUGOU in the very end of the afternoon. Diner and night at Mercure Silmande

DAY 8 : town trip of OUAGADOUGOU to visit the craftsmen’s centre, bronze makers… Lunch in town, then transfer to the airport later in the afternoon.
